Police Launch Manhunt for Suspected Murderers in Lilongwe

Police in Lilongwe have launched a manhunt of unknown criminals suspected to be murderers of a 47-year-old man before stealing his personal belongings including a mobile phone.

Lilongwe Police deputy spokesperson, Foster Benjamin, identifies the deceased as George Ndombo from Kamwendo village in Traditional Authority Kwataine in Ntcheu District.

Benjamin told the Malawi News Agency that Ndombo died on 3 March while receiving treatment at the Kamuzu Central hospital after he was beaten on the night of 1 March at Chinsapo 2.

He said on the fateful night, Ndombo was coming from a football match when he met the gang who attacked and hit him on the forehead before stealing his mobile phone, a belt and a hat.

Postmortem results showed that the death was due to severe head injuries.
