State Vice President Saulos Chilima has offered to carry out official duties on the prevention of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.
“If you can’t do on your own the cabinet currently is comprised of APM and me and I can help on coronavirus,” he said
Speaking at the United Transformation Movement (UTM) rally in Blantyre yesterday, Chilima stressed that the government needs to ensure that Coronavirus does not affect Malawi.
The Veep observed that the dissolution of the cabinet will likely affect efforts to prevent the outbreak, therefore he is ready to take up the task.
President Peter Mutharika appointed an 11 member cabinet committee to fight against the disease with a budget of K2.2 billion.
But Mutharika dissolved his cabinet on Friday, therefore frustrating the efforts and now all ministerial duties are under the Office of the President and Cabinet.
