Umodzi Party (UP) leader Professor has finally has make his position by making political alliance with United Transformation Movement (UTM) led by Vice President Saulos Chilima in readiness to presidential elections that are supposed to take place on 19 May.

This has come at a time when some senior members were accusing him of leaving them in the dark as whether he was to contest or join another political movement as the country prepares for fresh presidential elections following the nullification of May 2019 presidential polls by the constitutional court.

The UP leader said he wants to work with those who want things to change in this country adding that his party manifesto is similar to that of UTM.

“There are numerous problems and challenges that people are facing in this country and we need to join hands with people that have the vision to change things in this country,” he said.

Chisi said changing things in this country is not about one man show by for everyone who loves this country hence the reason for making alliance with UTM.

“Umodzi stands for unity that is why we believe that if we can come together with a common vision we can transform this country to a better Malawi,” he said.

Some members of the party have welcome the party president move saying it will bring sanity in the party because they are now vindicated.

However, his decision has surprised many people who were taking him in the past as pro ruling government die hard.
