Public Affairs Committee (PAC) and National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) say they have no funds to support the upcoming presidential polls.
PAC chairperson Patrick Thawale and NICE chief executive officer Ollen Mwalubunju said they do not have enough funds to carry out all programs that are needed during the elections mostly, civic educating people as time for elections is coming closer.
“Court will want to educate people on the rights and responsibilities, for who they will vote for… we can not talk about the dates right now though we are so limited on the issue of time but we feel that as soon as the funds are available, we shall embark,” he said.
Mwabulunju said that in absence of funds, his organization can not perform.
“We are trying to look around however we are trying to map up the resources that we have for example personnel, Vehicles, professional staff and so on,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chancellor College political expert Mustafa Hussein, said if people will not be civic educated on elections, they may lose interest in voting.
