Legal Affairs of Parliament has said President Peter Mutharika is at risk of being removed from office by the Constitutional Court of Malawi.

Chairperson of the committee Kezzie Msukwa said this in an interview with the press.

According Msukwa, Mutharika would cease being president of Malawi if presidential elections fail to take place as ordered by the court.

After nullifying May 21, 2019 presidential elections, the Constitutional Court ordered that fresh presidential polls should be held within the period of 150 days.

Adhering to the Constitution Court ruling, the National Assembly set May 19 as the day when fresh polls are to happen.
