Sheriffs have impounded a Nissan Hard Body vehicle belonging to Salima District Council over a 2010 issue.

Reports reaching Face of Malawi say that the council took a piece of land belonging to a certain resident and constructed a factory under the One Village One Product initiative in 2010, promising to give her another land where the Council would construct a house equivalent to the one that was there previously but this never materialized forcing the owner to take the matter to court.

The reports add that at that time, the land was valued at five million kwacha which has over the years, accumulated to 13 million kwacha, leading to the impounding of the vehicle.

The council’s spokesperson Grace Kapatuka asked for more time before commenting.
