Chaos arose in Mwanza as members of the community at Thambani were protesting against operations of security and immigration officers there, accusing them of receiving bribes from foreign nationals for them to enter and leave the country without proper papers.

Reports reaching Face of Malawian say that Over the recent weeks, the villagers have protested against the agencies, a series of events that led to the stealing of a gun from one police officers as the two sides clashed.

Senior Chief Govati said the communities are justified because they witness the incidents in which the agents do not search truck carrying unknown goods.

‘’We have been reporting such incidents to police officers. Unfortunately, our concerns have not been addressed. We are also learning that the officers are acquiring bribes to ensure that these goods enter and leave the country without being searched as it were,’’ said Govati.

Police authorities are however yet to comment on the matter.
