In a gruesome incident, a 27-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly attempting a botched-up surgery in a bid to abort his teenage girlfriend’s foetus which was a result of an unplanned pregnancy.

The man watched certain YouTube tutorials and decided to perform an abortion. The 19-year-old, who was in a critical condition after the botched-up surgery on Thursday, is stable now.

While attempting to pull the foetus from the womb, the accused man broke its hand. The pregnant teenager started bleeding baldly and the foetus died inside the womb.

The man immediately rushed her to Government Ponneri Hospital, which is located nearly 25 km away from the crime spot, on his motorcycle. Because of the seriousness of the case, the medics at the hospital referred the girl to Royapuram GH located in Chennai.

According to garthered, the affected girl and the accused did not want their family members to know about the pregnancy. The man persuaded the girl that he would abort the foetus.

Late on Wednesday, he took the girl to a cashew farm at a short distance from Gummidipoondi. According to the police officials, he bought the necessary equipment including surgical blades, gel, scissors and gloves on Wednesday morning. The items were purchased on the basis on YouTube tutorial which he watched.

While conducting the abortion, he attempted to pull the foetus by its head but its hand came out. He was perplexed as there were no YouTube videos which demonstrated pulling out a baby by hand. Nevertheless, he decided to go ahead and conclude abortion.

According to the medical reports, a surgical knife was used by the accused on the girl. He made a slit measuring 2 cm on the girl in a fruitless attempt to pull out rest of the baby. The doctors at Government Ponneri Hospital confronted the accused and later referred the girl to a hospital in Chennai.
