12 people have arrested for the brutal murder of three people who were suspected of blood sucking in Chitipa and Mzimba.
One of the deceased was killed in Chitipa while the other two mate the fate in Mzimba.
National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera said it is sad that people are buying blooding sucking myths and they are taking action on their own.
He told Malawians in the north that blood sucking remains allegation as nobody has been caught in action.
“Malawi police would like to inform Malawians that the blood suckers myth making rounds in Mzimba and Chitipa districts remains an allegation. The police continue to investigate the issue and nobody has so far claimed to have fallen victim,” he said.
He further said “the police notes with regret innocent people have been brutally murdered on the pretext that they were blood sucking suspects, subsequently three people have lost their lives; two in Chitipa and one in Mzimba”.
The spokesperson therefore condemned what he described as uncivilized behavior of mob justice and warned that anyone involved in mob justice will be arrested and prosecuted according law.
Kadadzera added that currently 12 people have been arrested for the murder of three.
