Malawi Defence Force (MDF) has said Malawian soldiers deployed in the Democratic Republic of Congo are safe from the spreading coronavirus.

The assurance has come at a time the DRC has recorded a Covid 19 case death.

Paul Chiphwanya spokesperson for Malawi Defense Force said the soldiers are highly protected from contracting coronavirus in the country.

According to Chiphwanya all soldiers deployed to DRC were following precautionary measures set by the World Health Organisation hence their hope.

DRC on Saturday reported its first coronavirus death, along with 5 new cases.
