US pop star Rihanna has set aside funds to help Malawi effectively prevent the outbreak of coronavirus.
Her charity organisation, the Clara Lionel Foundation, has announced that it will donate $5 million to Malawi and Haiti.
The foundation states that the money will be used to provide protective equipment, accelerating testing and care as well as training of health workers.
Through her foundation, Rihanna acknowledges that the most powerful weapon to fight the pandemic is preparedness for at risk communities.
The funds will be provided through various institutions such as the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund and Partners in Health.
