The local flag carrier Malawi Airlines has announced temporary suspension of all flights between Malawi and South Africa effective Friday 27th March, 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic threat.

In an announcement, it has indicated that the suspension runs up to Thursday 16th April, 2020. This will affect flights for Lilongwe and Blantyre to Johannesburg.

“This means our last operation to Johannesburg will be on Thursday 26th March, 2020.” adds the announcement.

The announcement follows Government of the Republic South Africa announcement of national lockdown from midnight on Thursday 26th March, 2020 until midnight on Thursday 16th April, 2020.
