Malawi Adventist University (MAU) of Blantyre campus, has a reason to smile after it received Information and Communications Technology (ICT) equipment worth K15 million from Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA).
MACRA Board Chairperson Reverend Alex Maulana said they responded positively to the request for the donation to MAU because their services were in line with government vision.
“We are happy to donate to MAU because the institution is providing services that are in line with government vision of providing higher education,” he said.
Maulana added that MACRA was about communication which could be non-existent without ICT hence, the support to institutions of higher learning.
MAU Board Member, Professor Grant Kululanga thanked MACRA for the donation, saying the support will go a long way in addressing learning challenges at the campus.
“The universities are using different methods of teaching like teacher-students contacts which on their own cannot address the current challenges that we have.
“The dimension of ICT has opened up a new way of increasing access to higher education,” he said, adding that even the Covid-19 is showing the importance of ICT in observing social distance.
The donation included 20 computer monitors, two servers, a heavy duty UPS, a printer, two LCD screens, two laptops, two projectors and an ICT cabinet.
