The Malawi Police Service said its inquiry into alleged cases of sexual abuse by Police Officers in Lilongwe are at an advanced stage.

17 women from Msundwe, Mpingu and M’bwatalika areas were sexually abused in October last year by people suspected to be police officers.

The Malawi Police deployed six top-notch investigators to conduct full criminal investigations against some officers.

The police are yet to conclude their inquiry, five months after the incidents.

National Police Publicist, James Kadadzera said the issue is not forgotten and their team is still running investigations on the matter.

Kadadzera added that the delay to release the report is due to challenges they faced in the first stages of the investigations but now all is going on smoothly.
