Malawi Electoral Commission is calling on individuals interested to run in the July 2 fresh presidential elections to collect nomination papers.
The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) is encouraging individuals interested to run in the 2 July fresh presidential election to collect nomination papers.
The call has be made after the electoral body launched the calendar for the fresh polls on Monday.
According to MEC spokesperson Sangwani Mwafulirwa, at least 3 candidates have collected the nomination papers at a non-refundable fee of K2 000, 000 per candidate.
The commission will receive the nomination papers from the candidates on April 23 and 24.
After nullification of May 21, 2019 presidential polls, the Constitutional Court ordered for fresh presidential polls within the period of 150 days.
However, President Peter Mutharika is challenging the decision by the Constitutional Court at the Supreme Court of Appeal, in which hearing of the case is expected to start on April 15.
