A Pretoria Father was arrested at the weekend for supposedly kidnapping his son and going against the regulations that the movement of children around of parents who don’t live in the same household is condemned during the national lockdown.
The man is accused of forcefully taking a 14-year-old without the mother’s concern on Sunday.
In an effort to enforce boundaries, the government made it known that during the 21-day lockdown, those who are co-parenting were restricted from moving children from one place to another.
The Pretoria dad did the same thing they were told not to do and was arrested in Lyttelton, Centurion, on Sunday before being charged with kidnapping.
Deputy Minister in the Presidency Hlengiwe Mkhize described the man’s conduct as careless, saying he had put his son’s life in danger.
Mkhize pleaded to the security cluster to act decisively with parents who broke the law.
Meanwhile, the teenager was taken back to his mother.
