New Commander of Malawi Defence Force (MDF) Peter Nathamanga said his soldiers are ready to take special operations in a work to fight corona virus that has claimed peoples lives across the globe.

He said this when he officially took over MDF commander position from Vincent Nundwe.

“The army is ready to take any operation in fighting against corona virus. In fact, the army is part of response team,” he said.

Namathanga added that some MDF officials are taking part in different government initiatives that are aimed at ensuring that the virus does not spread to Malawi.

Currently, Malawi has not registered any corona virus case but preventive measure are being implememnted to ensure that the virus does not spread to Malawi.
