After the government imposed 60% capacity for public transport, minibus and bus fares have gone up in some routes in the country.

The government is enforcing 60% siting capacity to encounter the spread corona virus pandemic.

Acting Chairperson for Minibus Owners Association of Malawi, Felix Msukwa said the fares are up because if they continue with old fares then they are not going to break through.

“with two people per row in minibuses, we cannot break through with the old fares . This is a big blow,” he said.

In Lilongwe, most routes now range from K600 to K700 and from K400 to K500.
