Parliaments Legal Affairs Committee showcased its frustrations on reports that some Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) officials are taking peoples national Identification Cards telling them that they will get loan and food from the government.

Chairperson of the committee, Kezzie Msukwa said this when he met National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) over preparations for July presidential poll.

“IDs are not for sell. Voters are not for sell. You need to go to the people to tell them that they should not handover their IDs to these people,” said Msukwa.

Reports say that the IDs are taken away from people so as to delete their names from voters roll.

Meanwhile, DPP refuted the allegations.
