President Peter Mutharika has assured the general public that more measures will be imposed to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

Yesterday, Mutharika confirmed three cases of Coronavirus when he addressed the nation on the matter.

In the 1 minute and few seconds speech, Mutharika disclosed that those tested positive for the virus are two Malawians of Indian origin and a Malawian.

Telling Malawians not to panic of the news, Mutharika said more measures will be imposed to combat the spread of the case.

“I will be addressing the nation again to announce more measures to top the spread of coronavirus,” Mutharika said.

He further urged Malawians to follow all the precautions as also another way of fighting the virus.

“Let me remind all Malawians that coronavirus is preventable and we save lives if we do the following things among us; one observe social distance, two, observe proper hand wash with soap for at least 20 seconds, and lastly avoid coughing or sneezing in ones hands,” advised Mutharika.

According to Mutharika, the first person to be infected came from India and she placed herself in a 14 day quarantine before starting feeling the symptoms of the virus, others infected are the woman’s relation and a house helper.

Meanwhile trackers have been deployed to trail tracks of the those who might be in contact with the patients.
