Special Cabinet Committee on Coronavirus has trashed rumours hovuring on the social media that members of the committee are receiving MK300,000 each in allowances for every meeting.

Minister of Information and Communication Technology Mark Botomani trashed the speculations during media briefing currently underway in the capital Lilongwe aimed at updating Malawians on the current situation of the COVID-19.

Botomani also trashed social media speculations that Beautify Malawi Trust (BEAM) of the country’s First Lady Gertrude Mutharika that it has pocked Mk1 billion from the approved MK15 billion fund meant for COVID-19 fight.

Turning to COVID-19 cases, Minister of Health Jappie Mhango has confirmed a 5th case in Blantyre. involving a woman who returned from the United Kingdom on March 28, 2020.

Mhango said from tomorrow, Tuesday, government will announce on how the measures announced by President Mutharika over the weekend will be operationalised.

He also said work has started on directive by president Mutharika on recruitment of 2000 health personel to support the health care system.
He further called on Malawians to adhere to the measures as announced by government.
