Director for Mzimba South Education Division, Fides Msowoya has advised learners and students who have been sent on holiday on due to Covid-19 pandemic to continue studying at their respective homes.
She encouraged parents to take a good care of the students and to ensure that they are still studying though school doors are closed.
“I would like advice parents to continue taking care of these learners and students and have keen interest in ensuring that they continue with their studies at home until the Presidential directive on the closure of learning and teaching institutions is lifted.
“You should safeguard them from any form of immoral practices and behaviors which can lead to teenage marriages among others,” Msowoya warned.
Msowoya asked the students not to indulge in immoral behaviors which could ruin their lives.
The Director said the close down of schools was not an opportunity for girl learners to get married because doing so would ruining their future.
One of the parents, Jonas Kaunda, whilst commending government for closing down schools amidst Covid-19 threats said their fears that drug and substance abuse could be escalated amongst the youth.
All learning institutions both Public and Private were closed on March 23, 2020 following President’s directive as one of the measures in preventing the spread of Coronavirus in the country.
