Malawi’s Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda has declined to allow two South African lawyers to represent the Malawi Electoral Commission – MEC in the Constitutional Appeal Case which will start this Wednesday.

Justice Nyirenda even declined to hear the application through a proposed video conference as it is not prescribed in the law.

In the meantime, Counsel Tamando Tchokhotho who once represented the commission has since indicated that he will represent MEC in the appeal case at the Supreme Court sitting in Lilongwe.
