The Chewa King for Malawi, Zambia and Mozambique His majesty Kalonga Gawa Undi has directed that all Chewa cultural events including Kulamba be suspended indefinitely.
Chairperson for the Chewa Heritage Foundation in Malawi Professor George Kanyama Phiri says the directive by the Chewa Chief is aimed at helping disrupt the further spread of the covid 19 pandemic.
Speaking during a press briefing in Lilongwe, Phiri appealed to Chewas and other tribes in the country to comply with government precautionary measures in the fight against the global health pandemic.
Meanwhile, the country has 16 cases of coronavirus, including 2 deaths and 14 active cases.
