The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has said it will be moving the Supreme Court of Appeal to suspend the registration exercise due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The move comes as Malawi now has 13 positive Covid-19 cases with two deaths due to the disease.

However, the voter registration is underway in eight districts across the country.

Director of communications for MEC Sangwani Mwafulirwa , they will move the matter to the Supreme Court after the high court threw out the application arguing it cannot wave its own decision.
