A man in Rajkot, Gujarat allegedly bludgeoned his 20-day old son to death as he was suspicious of his man. The man was also under the impression that he was not the biological father of the child.

The incident took place at a house in Vikariya village of Gadhda taluka in Bhavnagar district on Monday.

The accused has been identified as Kalu Nayak. While the incident took place on Monday, the accused was arrested on Tuesday.

Nayak’s wife has been identified as Manjula. Manjula and Kalu Nayak hail from the Kalad Dudhva village of Kalol taluka in Panchmahal district. The couple got married around 12 years ago and have six children.

Allegedly, Manjula and Kalu Nayak had been fighting ever since their child had been born. Kalu was under the impression that his wife was having an affair with someone else.

On Monday evening, Kalu Nayak started arguing with his wife after he returned home and started confronting her about her affair, The Times of India reported. During this time, Kalu Nayak had an axe in his hand and his child was sleeping.

When the argument escalated, Kalu Nayak allegedly threw the axe on his sleeping infant, killing him. Following this, the accused used the same axe to hit his wife. Manjula, however, managed to escape Kalu Nayak’s blows by running away from the spot.

Meanwhile, the couple’s neighbour Arjun Nayak heard Manjula’s screams and rushed to help her. Arjun Nayak also got injured when he was trying to save Manjula.
