President Peter Mutharika has appealed o all political leaders to join hands in fight Coronavirus which has caused fear and panic around the globe.
Mutharika made the appeal on April 14 night when he addressed the nation on further measures taken to contain the spread of the deadly pandemic.
“Let me once again appeal to all political leaders that we need to join our hands in fighting this Coronavirus pandemic,” Mutharika asked.
He continued by asking all leaders not to politicize the virus saying this is not the time for politics but rather of saving lives.
“No one must take advantage of the suffering of people and politicize Coronavirus. This is not a time for politics. This is a time for saving lives,” he said.
Adding to that Mutharika reminded everyone that Coronavirus is real and is a threat hence needed to be handled well.
He further assured the general public that as the president he will do anything in his capacity to protect the people of Malawi.
“Coronavirus is a real threat, as your President, I will do everything possible for us to save lives. Let us unite to save lives,” Mutharika said.
Meanwhile, Malawi has registered 16 cases of coronavirus, including two deaths and 14 active cases.
