The harassment and physical assault on doctors and other health workers treating coronavirus patients continue unabated.

In a shocking incident, a COVID-19 patient allegedly thrashed an on-duty doctor at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad recently. Police have now arrested the patient and his brother for physical assault on the doctor.

According to a report in Times of India, the accused COVID-19 patient and his brother allegedly assaulted a resident doctor after their relative, also a coronavirus patient died due to co-morbidities.

The accused COVID-19 patient was being treated at another hospital when the incident took place. The 23-year-old patient and his brother were produced before a court through video conferencing.

The court has sent the two accused to judicial custody. The COVID-19 patient will be kept at the hospital until he recovers, while his brother will be kept at an isolation ward for prisoners at Gandhi Hospital.

However, the patient and his brother were immediately shifted to another hospital after resident doctors at Gandhi Hospital staged the protest.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad police have arrested two relatives of another COVID-19 suspect after they attacked a Post Graduate medical student at Osmania General Hospital.

The incident took place on Tuesday when the relatives of a man under quarantine beat up the doctor demanding his release from the hospital.
