For all phat buns lovers out there, we all know there is nothing like a good, old juicy and meaty burger to munch on whilst relaxed and thinking about nothing but just the burst of flavor on our taste buds.
Anyone who has ever tried those store bought, boxed burger patties knows that a lot of them are not hundred percent meat but a mixture of vegetable protein like soya and wheat.
Here we’re going to teach you to make your own beef burgers patties at home together with the accompanying, beloved sauces like 1000 Islands and Barbecue sauce.
For the burger patties you will need minced meat/ground beef. Remember the amount of minced meat depends on the number of people you will be serving. For the sake of this recipe we’re staring with
- 1.5 kg minced meat/ground beef
- 1 egg
- Salt
- A few springs of fresh chopped parsley (optional)
- 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs or flour (too keep the pattie intact and give it a crisp feel)
- Barbecue spice (optional)
In a bowl, thoroughly mix the minced meat, beaten egg, breadcrumbs or flour, salt and parsley and barbecue spice.
Next start rolling the minced meat mixture into large meat balls and place them on a board sprinkled with flour. Flatten them into patties using a women spoon or the center of your palm.
You can either fry the patties or grill them with a little oil until golden brown or depending how cooked you prefer your steak.
Spread the parties in between fresh hamburger rolls sliced in half. You can serve with the usual lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and sauce or just enjoy it plain.
Now for the sauces.
For the famous 1000 Islands sauce
- 1 cup Mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup tomato ketchup sauce
- A pinch of salt
- A little sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar.
Mix all ingredients thoroughly in a bowl starting with the wet ingredients then the dry ones then your sauce is ready to serve on burgers, salads or fries.
