The Malawi Defense Force (MDF) and the Malawi Police Service (MPS) have warned the public against violation of restrictions set out in the lockdown as declared by President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.

MDF Commander, Peter Namathanga and Acting Inspector General of Police, Duncan Mwapasa sounded the warning in a joint media briefing currently underway in the capital Lilongwe.

“The lockdown simply means stay at home,” said Namathanga.

On his part, Mwapasa said there will be heavy police presence on the roads.

The 21 days lockdown is scheduled to commence on the midnight of April 18 2020 up to May 9, 2020.
