President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has appointed General Vincent Nundwe, former commander of the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) as Malawi’s High Commissioner to the Republic of India.

Chief Secretary to the Government Lloyd Muhara confirmed of the development in a statement released on Friday made available to Faceofmalawi.

According to Muhara, Nundwe’s diplomatic appointment is subject to confirmation by the Public Appointments Committee of Parliament.

Nundwe was fired from his position last month and was replaced by Peter Namathanga.

His firing attracted mixed reactions with many describing the move as political in nature.
