Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that Parliament has postponed a budget meeting which was scheduled to start on May 8, 2020.

Clerk of Parliament Fiona Kalemba has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.

According to the statement, the move is line with the impending lockdown declared by President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on Tuesday night.

“I wish to inform you that the 2020/2021 Budget Meeting of Parliament which was planned to be held from Friday May 8, 2020 has been postponed until further notice.

“The postponement follows a Lockdown Declaration due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” reads in part the letter.

Mutharika declared a 21 days lockdown scheduled to commence on April 18.
