The High Court has set April 27, 2020 as the date it will hear an application in which some constituents are pushing for the nullification of the tripartite election conducted last year.

The Constitutional Court nullified the 2019 presidential poll citing widespread and systematic irregularities and a fresh one.

Lawyer representing the constituents, Wesley Mwafulirwa confirmed of the development in an interview with Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS).

According to Mwafulirwa, his clients want the court to also declare that the parliamentary and local council elections were also mismanaged and must therefore be held again.

Following the Constitutional Court judgement in February, some former legislators sought an injunction to restrain the new Members of Parliament from discharging their duties until fresh polls were conducted. But the courts threw out the application.

However, one of the concerned citizens trying to move the courts to act on the matter Chifundo Dana, argues that the issue needs to be looked again in the interest of justice.
