LILONGWE – Police in Kawale township have arrested two teenagers aged 16 and 17 in connection to the murder a 49 year old man in area 23 township.

Central Region Police Headquarters Public Relations Officer, Inspector Kingsley Dandaula said the deceased Ephraim Chibwana of Ndombole village in the area of Traditional Authority Kapichi, Thyolo, was staying in Area 23.

“On 4th April 2020 he left home to drink beer within the location at around 16:00hrs. Later, the wife tried to call him on his mobile phone many times but could not be reached.

On the 5th of April 2020 in the morning hours the body of the deceased was found about 50 metres from his house and the wife positively identified the body of her husband” explained Dandaula

He said the matter was reported at Area 23 Police unit and body was taken to Kamuzu Central Hospital mortuary for postmortem.

“Investigations were instituted by Kawale police detectives and through tips from the general public the suspects were arrested in area 23 location at Chiuzira. The suspects led the detectives where the phone of the deceased was hidden.” Indicated Dandaula

He has since said the two teenagers will be charged with the offence of murder contrary to Section 209 of the Penal Code and will appear in court soon.
