A man, Samuel Kadammanja was allegedly beaten by the police early this month after he was involved in a fight.
It is while in police custody where he claimed some officers pounded him severe in the private parts.
Kadammanja further claimed he spent some days in prison while waiting for his parents to pay K50, 000 which the court ordered as a fine.
“When I was giving my statement at the police counter they started beating me even in my private parts, I was feeling pains up to when I was taken to court and sent to Mzimba prison where I was treated”
Kadammanja said after his parents paid the K50, 000 fine he was released and is now admitted at Mzimba hospital
“I am still in pain, though they are giving me medication things are not changing, am failing to walk, sit and am finding problems to urinate,” said Kadammanja.
According to chairperson for Mzimba south NGO network Teckson Amadu police in the district are also on record to have beaten up an under aged teenage girl leading to the loss of her two months pregnancy.
Mzimba police spokesperson Sub inspector Peter Botha asked for more time before commenting on the matter.
Police are yet to conclude another case in which some officers are being accused of beating a teenage girl leading to the loss of her two months pregnancy.
