India – A woman living in Doddaballapura area of Bengaluru turned to the police for help after her husband threw steaming water at her inside their residence. The woman was attacked by her husband after she refused to make a cup of coffee for him.

After the incident, the woman caught hold of her phone and called the Bengaluru police control room. The woman, writhing in pain, was referred to helpline Parihar- Vanitha Sahayavani where she narrated her ordeal.

The incident took place on the afternoon of April 16. BS Saraswathi, the senior counsellor who received the woman’s call said that she could sense the pain that the woman was experiencing as she shared her plight on the phone.

The woman stays in Doddaballapura with her husband and the couple has one child. The man is a scrap dealer who has been struggling financially due to the coronavirus lockdown.

On April 16, the man asked his wife to prepare a cup of coffee for him. The woman. however, said that she had a lot of work in the kitchen and refused to make the coffee. Following this, the accused started arguing with his wife and when the argument escalated, he picked up the vessel of boiling water kept on the stove and poured it on his wife. The woman suffered severe burns during the incident and started crying in pain, The Times of India reported.

The neighbours heard the woman’s cries for help and rushed to help her. Saraswathi said that first aid was administered to the woman by her neighbours. After a while, the woman contacted the police control room and was connected with Parihar.

The Parihar team got in touch with the victim’s brother and informed him about the incident. The woman was taken to a hospital. The woman suffered 20 per cent burn injuries and is said to be out of danger. The head of Parihar, Rani Shetty said that they have asked the woman to lodge a complaint against her husband and are following the progress of the case.
