High Court judge Justice Kenyatta Nyirenda has sustained the injunction against the planned 21 day lockdown by President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.

The Human Right Defenders Coalition (HRDC) two weeks ago obtained an injunction against Mutharika’s 21-day lockdown to control the spread of Coronavirus.

On Friday last week Judge Nyirenda called for an interparty hearing but Attorney General Kalekeni Kaphale shunned the hearing.

Nyirenda reserved his ruling till today.

Lawyer for the claimants Sullivan Kagundu has confirmed.

According to Kagundu, the conduct of the office of Attorney General has been condemned with costs.

The development means the country will not be on lockdown as planned.
