A woman was horrified to discover that her husband of almost three years has been keeping secrets from her and the biggest of all is about how they first met.

How would you react if you discovered your husband had been keeping a rather dark secret from you?

One woman recently found out that the man she’d been married to for almost three years had been hiding the truth about how they really met.

The unnamed 32-year-old revealed all in a shocking post on Reddit, which has since been deleted, reports mamamia.com.au.

She explained how she was introduced to Dave five years ago through a work colleague called Mark.

She claims she wasn’t all that interested in Dave at first, but he was incredibly persistent, so she agreed to go on a date with him and was surprised that they had quite a lot in common.

She continued: “So apparently after this, he started creating a bunch of fake profiles. He stole pictures of very attractive men from social media… Using these profiles, he started, basically, catfishing me.

“He had my name, and started hardcore stalking me online! He had created numerous social media profiles, some of which I accepted as friends/followers, so then he was able to stalk my life!”

After stalking her online, he began to watch her in real life as well, going to the same places she did and tactically befriending her colleague Mark, so he could introduce them at a later date.

All the while Dave continued to use the fake dating profiles and even set up dates between her and the fake profiles and ghost her at the last minute to mess with her self-esteem.

Apparently he thought if she had lower expectations, she’d go on a date with him and realise they were meant to be together.

However there was one other date she did go on, with a man named Alex – but it turns out her husband had a hand in that as well.

“Alex and I went on our first date, which was absolutely great,” she wrote, recalling how she invited him back to her place after, but he declined and never spoke to her again.

Turns out, Dave paid Alex $1000 to go on a date with her and then ditch her right at the last moment.

So cruel!

She added: “I asked him why he would do something like that, and Dave’s response was that I was a dumb girl who was chasing guys out of her league, and that I needed a reality check to see that the best guy for her was right in front of her face.

“Up until now, I think I had been smiling and generally in disbelief about the whole thing. Which I think only encouraged him to keep going. But the story about Alex just horrified me.”

She then turned to Reddit for advice, saying she was torn as she thought she had a “life most would kill for” and wasn’t sure whether to let this new knowledge change all of that.

People were appalled by her story – with some suggesting it was fake and others comparing Dave to Joe Goldberg from the Netflix show You.

One person said: “This post is either fake, which is the most likely alternative… Or you need to run the hell away from him.”

Someone else wrote: “Not for nothing but this has a very ‘YOU’ vibe to it.. I would be really careful if I were you.”

“This is very Joe Goldberg,” added a fourth.
