One of the popular media training institutions in the country, Malawi Institute of Journalism (MIJ) has recalled all students attached to various media houses in the country, Faceofmalawi can reveal.
The development follows the suspension of Internship programme in the wake of Coronavirus pandemic which has claimed three lives.
This has been confirmed in a MEMO dated May 1, 2020 addressed to all students signed by MIJ Media Training Manager Mercy Manja.
“On behalf of Management, I would like to inform you that we have suspended the Internship programme with immediate effect. All students that were working at various media houses are supposed to go back to their homes to stay safe in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
“We understand that most media organizations had implemented some health precautionary measures of work shifts to enhance social and physical distancing, however, we believe that staying home is deal,” reads in part the MEMO.
