Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera will represent the grand alliance of MCP and United Transformation Movement (UTM) ahead of the fresh Presidential polls scheduled for July 2, 2020.
This has been revealed at Mount Soche Hotel in the commercial capital Blantyre where Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) is receiving nomination papers from Presidential candidates.
MEC Chief Elections Officer Sam Alfandika disclosed the presidential candidate in his welcoming remarks.
The development means UTM President Dr. Saulos Chilima who is also State Vice President will be Chilima’s running mate.
Meanwhile Chakwera has presented nomination papers to MEC for scrutiny.
