Three women were subjected to absolute brutality in a village in Muzaffarpur, Bihar on the suspicion that they were witches. The women were paraded naked, forced to consume faeces, drink urine in front of the entire village.
The incident came to light when a video of the women being subjected to torture surfaced on social media.

Kundan Kumar, sub-divisional officer, east Muzaffarpur said that the incident is that of a crime. He said that they will conduct a proper investigation into the incident and take strict action against the persons involved.

The heads of the victims were also tonsured. According to ANI’s report, the police arrested nine persons on Tuesday, for their alleged involvement in the case.
ANI tweeted, “The villagers of Dakrama, Muzaffarpur had a superstition of the three women being ‘witches’, due to which the women were beaten up and paraded half-naked in the village yesterday. ”
Amitesh Kumar, additional superintendent of police (ASP) (east) said that out of the 10 persons named in the FIR, 9 have been nabbed. He added that the police are constantly conducting raids to arrest the persons who tonsured the women’s heads. Kumar claimed that the three victims or the villagers did not approach them to lodge a complaint.
