The Center for Human Rights and Rehabilitation (CHRR), a non-governmental organization in Malawi  has condemned  political violence during this campaign period.

The organization made the remarks in reference to the recent torching of a United Transformation Movement (UTM) vehicle and offices in Lilongwe as well as the violence during voter registration in the southern region.

In Blantyre, thugs tried to destroyed Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) equipment at Makata and Chilimba registration centers.

In Mulanje, United Transformation Movement (UTM) monitor was assaulted by unknown thugs.

On Saturday, MEC Chairperson Dr Jane Ansah launched campaign period for the coming 2020 presidential elections.

He cautioned political parties against using violence saying they concentrate on issue-based campaign.
