The Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) has further reduced the fuel pump prices effective this coming Friday May 08, 2020.
The development comes barely a month after the state Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima who is also President of the United Transformation Movement (UTM) asked MERA to further reduce the fuel pump prices.
According to the statement released by MERA, petrol is now selling at MK690.50 from MK780, Diesel is now selling at MK664.80 from MK765 while Paraffin will be selling at MK441.70 from MK625.00.
The price reduction represents 16.13%, 13.75% and 9.71% respectively.
The reduction in fuel pump prices will also see prices of essential services on the market being reduced.
