The independent presidential candidate Smart Swira has told Malawinas that he was chosen by God to rule Malawi.
Swira made the remarks in the morning hours of Thursday at Mount Soche in Blantyre where he went to present his nomination papers for coming 2020 presidential elections.
According to him, he visited prophet T.B Joshua of Synagogue of All Nations in Nigeria in 2016 where he was told that he shall become a president and rule Malawi.
He tried to fulfill this prophecy in 2019 when he also stood as an independent candidate for presidential elections unfortunately, he was turned down by Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) for not fulfilling nomination requirements including 10 signatures from 28 districts in the country nominating him as a presidential aspirant and nomination fee of K1 million.
Swira was the second candidate to submit his papers on Thursday. After he arrived in the conference hall and recieved by MEC director of Media and Public relations Sangwani Mwafulirwa, his nomination papers were taken for verification.
It was found that Swira had done good with collection of signatures but he did not deposit nomination fee of K2 million.
Swira was told again to deposit the fee and submit the nomination papers before 4 pm on the same day.
Swira’s family, friends and Malawians have suggested that Smart Swira has mental disability that is driving him to do all sorts of activities.
Meanwhile, MEC is eyeing the return of Swira to submit his papers.
