The Supreme Court sitting in Lilongwe has told Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) that there should be no new registrants and candidates in the fresh polls.
The court says voters roll to be used will be the same one from last year’s elections.
The Supreme Court also said the law says a fresh election was supposed to be conducted within 60 days of nullifying the 2019 presidential election and not 150 days but will uphold Constitutional Court’s 150 days given.
Parliament has since been challenged to fix dates for the polls of the elections.
