A six month old baby boy after drowinning in a bucket full of water while unidentified man has been found floating in a river.

Sub Inspector Richard Mwakayoka Kaponda, Ntchisi Police Public Relations Officer said the incidents occurred in separate areas in Ntchisi district.

“The toddler boy met his fate on 7 May, 2020 at Mwamulo village in the area of Traditional Authority Malenga. It is reported that the boy was left out side the kitchen unattended, while the mother was cooking inside.Unfortunately, when the mother went to check on the child, she found the toddler drowned in a bucket full of water which was left outside.” Explained Kaponda

He then indicated that on Friday May 8, unknown man was discovered dead floating in M’dambo river.”Prior to this incident, he was last seen at M’dambo village in the area of Traditional Authority Malenga, loitering within the area and people believed he had mental illness.” Indicated Kaponda

He said upon postmortem examination in both incidents medical professionals revealed that death was due to suffocation.

The 6 months old baby boy came from Mwamulo village in the area of Traditional Authority Malenga, while the unknown man’s home origin remains unknown.

“Police investigations are under way to trace his home origin. On both incidents police suspected no foul play.” Added Kaponda
