A woman has been arrested and charged with murder after she lured a cheating married man into an ambush where he was later killed.
Precious Moyo was arrested after some weeks on the run. She is alleged to have conspired with Brandy Sifanjani and Darlington Chigagure to lure Walter Mutombwera (36) into a trap. Mutombwera was alleged to have been carrying out an adulterous affair with Sifanjani’s wife Nyaradzo Gagaure. Darlington, who is Nyaradzo’s brother was also part of the plot.
iHarare established from state media that Precious Moyo is said to have impersonated Nyaradzo and called Mutombwera saying that she was back and wanted to spend some quality time with him. Nyaradzo was in South Africa at that time.
An unsuspecting Mutombwera is reported to have shown up at Nyaradzo’s home on March 11, 2020, at around 11 pm for the illicit tryst where Sifanjani was lying in wait.
Sifanjani attacked Mutombwera when he entered the house. However, Mutombwera was powerful and managed to overpower the furious husband. Before he could make good his escape, however, Chigagure came to the aid of his brother-in-law.
Chigagaure and Sifanjani then ganged up on Mutombwera and assaulted him using a hoe handle and a knife. The two tied up Mutombwera using electrical cords and assaulted him for over 5 hours. In the process, they broke both his legs.
They later dumped a seriously injured Mutombwera about half a kilometre from their home. Mutombwera is reported to have died while he was being transported to the hospital by a Good Samaritan taxi driver.
After the crime, all three suspects went on the run. Chigagaure was arrested about two weeks back is currently remanded in custody. He was denied bail and remanded to the 28th of May, 2020.
Moyo appeared before Gweru magistrate Mr Edwin Marecha last week facing murder charges. She was denied bail and remanded to the 28th of May as well.
Sifanjani is still on the run and is yet to be apprehended.
