Musicians Kell Kay, Tay Grin, Macelba, Suffix, Boy Hidden and Janta alongside business woman Dorothy Shonga popularly known as Cash Madam recently teamed up to produce a song titled ‘Defeat Corona’.

The song is currently enjoying airplay in most of the local radio stations.

Suffix famed for the track ‘Mkazi Wakumwamba’, said he was happy to take a lead role in disseminating information to the people about Covid -19 pandemic and at the same time collaborate with other artists.

“These are tough times and as artists, we need to come together and play a part,” Suffix said.

He said artists have been affected by the pandemic in that they cannot hold live performances.

“With the banning of shows, it means no bookings hence no money for artists but I am happy that we are able to unite and reach out to people with important messages,” he said.

Suffix also took time out to commend health workers for the work they were doing at the moment and urged the government to help them with personal protective equipment.

Macelba concurred with Suffix that the creative industry has been affected and that many artists were struggling to make ends meet.

“Everyone has a responsibility to make sure that we avoid the virus and so, we need to speak about it and also follow the preventive measures which have been put up. As artists, we have the talent and we need to use that talent to reach out to the people and in this case as musicians we have come out with a song,” Macelba said.

The song emphasizes on the need for hygiene as well as observing social distance.

Other artists, who have released Covid-19 songs include Skeffa Chimoto, Joe Gwaladi, Khozie Masimbe and Piksy.
