Public Affairs Committee (PAC) says it expects Justice Dr. Jane Ansah to walk the talk and step down as chairperson of the country’s electoral commission.

The Committee’s spokesperson, Gilford Matonga, says following a Supreme Court of Appeal ruling on elections case, it does not require the president to fire her anymore.

“She must be a woman of her words. We understand she is a bishop and a leader of faith community. We ask Dr. Jane Ansah to honor her words. Whether she believes that the Supreme Court judgment is correct or not, that’s irrelevant. She has to use her words and be a woman of integrity and people will respect her for that,” he said.

Dr. Ansah could not be reached to respond but she last week referred the media back to her position that she would resign once the Supreme Court of Appeal upholds the high court ruling.

PAC’s remark comes days after its futile call to the President to fire Dr. Ansah and entire Commission during an audience both parties held recently.

The Supreme Court on Friday upheld a Constitutional Court ruling that nullified the 2019 Presidential Election and consequently ordered a fresh poll.
