Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has announced that new registered voters will be deleted from the voters roll in the fresh presidential elections.
This has been said by MEC’ chairperson Jane Ansah today in Mangochi at a third National Elections Consultative Forum (NECOF)
Ansah has said MEC will delete all the voters that have registered this year ahead of the July 2 fresh presidential election.
These are the voters that registered in Chitipa, Karonga, Salima, Dedza, Ntcheu, Blantyre city, Chikwawa and Nsanje.
Ansah also told stakeholders in Mangochi today that the electoral body will delete names of people that participated in the by elections that took place in Lilongwe, Dedza Matenje ward and Balaka Liwawazi ward.
This is in lie with what the Supreme Court of appeal said during the delivery of its verdict on presidential appeal case that in the fresh polls only those who registered during the May 21, 2019 should be allowed to vote.
